Regional Sales Manager

One position for each: Southern California, Northern California, and NYC region

It is an exciting time at Lightning eMotors, a fast-growing company that designs and manufactures a wide portfolio of best-in-class zero emission medium and heavy duty vehicles – from Class 3 cargo vans, passenger vans, and ambulances, to Class 4 shuttles buses and trucks, to Class 6 box trucks, Class 7 city buses, and Class 8 motorcoaches.Our team designs, engineers, customizes, and manufactures electric vehicles to support this wide array of fleet customer needs, augmented with a full suite of telematics, analytics, and charging solutions to simplify our customers’ journey towards vehicle electrification. With over 10 years of experience in the clean transportation space, Lightning is ahead of the game with proprietary and proven technology, dominant market positioning, and a highly experienced engineering and management team.

We expect 2021 to be a game-changing year for us, as we intend to go public through a SPAC merger with GigCapital3 in the first half of 2021. This would enable us to continue scaling our manufacturing and engineering capabilities, and maintain our leadership in the commercial electric vehicle space.

We are seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic, and resourceful sales professional to lead our sales efforts in Southern California. The ideal candidate will be based out of their home office. You will be an integral part of the sales team, working with like-minded professionals dedicated to making a difference in the world and transforming the automotive industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our sales leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the assigned territory
  • Own the sales process – from lead generation to project kick off, becoming our customers’ trusted partner through the process, helping them develop and justify the environmental and financial business case to go electric
  • Develop quarterly and annual sales forecasts split by product group and market vertical
  • Follow-up on leads from company website, trade shows and events to develop opportunities
  • Maintain and regularly update pipeline in our CRM to help the company forecast and plan production
  • Work closely with our Marketing team to organize and attend regional trade shows and events
  • Coordinate product demonstrations to showcase our best-in-class technology to a wide variety of customer types – fleets, dealers and NGOs involved with clean transportation
  • Develop a broad network of relationships with commercial fleet operators and sustainability managers across your assigned territory

Desired Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of relevant sales or customer facing experience in complex B2B environments
  • Experience in the EV and/or electric utility industries is a big plus
  • Experience selling to fleet managers, government agencies and municipalities
  • Customer focus-attitude with robust problem-solving skills
  • Experience with value-based selling, ROI and TCO analysis
  • Experience and aptitude to leverage internal technical resources in the sales process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various situations and audiences as needed
  • Regular travel to customer sites for sales meetings and product demonstrations
  • Intermediate or better Microsoft Office skills

Salary: Base salary $90,000-$125,000
