We are seeking a skilled Engineer to join our team to assist in creating component and system level design and release documentation for electric vehicle systems. This will include working with vehicle controls system software, creating manufacturing, assembly and service related documentation, and interfacing with the production team to resolve engineering change requests.

Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, the successful candidate in this role will be responsible for creating electric vehicle controls software necessary to support serial production and assembly of EV systems.


  • Serve as a member of the Engineering Team in the development, implementation, and testing of controls software and hardware improvements to existing and future systems
  • Build and modify Simulink code to run on a real-time embedded targets
  • Design and document wire harnesses, piping, and cabling for system integration
  • Implement new features on Lightning Systems products
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot delivered customer systems (local and remote)
  • Participate in component selection and verification activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:


  • At least 3-5 years experience in controls systems engineering or software engineering in the automotive or related field
  • Simulink and Matlab development and application experience
  • Controls/Mechatronics theory, interest and practical experience
  • Basic knowledge of tools and manufacturing (soldering, wiring, etc.)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, prints, schematics and diagrams
  • Given high level objectives being able troubleshoot and come to a solution with critical thinking independently or collaboratively as needed
  • Proficient with MS Office, basic networking, FTP


  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with wire harnesses and automotive electrical systems
  • Experience working in PTC Creo (including Creo Schematics)
  • Experience with ERP and PDM tools
  • Understanding of basic electric vehicle systems and operation is preferred
  • Experience generating wire harness documentation

Physical demands and abilities

  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks, including prolonged periods at a desk
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, climb, kneel, and twist.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Salary: $75-100k annually DOE
